Appearances can be deceptive – certainly in painting, which gives only an impression of reality. Here Claesz presents the study materials of an educated painter: books, drawings, armour, musical instruments and a plaster cast of the Spinario, a famous antique sculpture of a boy extracting a thorn from his foot. On the table are a paintbrush and a palette, along with bones and a skull. The message is clear: the world is mere illusion and transience (vanitas). 

These collections of fine art illustrations and etchings are available as high-quality giclée reproductions.  They are high-resolution with HDR ultra-chrome ink's deep saturation, printed with four levels of black pigment ink.  Our studio prints on heavy-stock, cold-press papers and fine canvas.  Our gallery wraps are all hand-made with a printer's craftsmanship.  Each print is carefully packaged to prevent damage.  All prints include a Xistis Press Certificate of Authenticity, stating the date of printing, our shop's imprint, and the print number.
